About Breanna Heisterkamp

Breanna Heisterkamp, BSN, RN, PHN, SANE-A, SANE-P, GFN-C, is the Forensic Nurse Manager of the Hennepin Assault Response Team at Hennepin Healthcare. Ms. Heisterkamp has her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bethel University and has received extensive continuing education in gender-based violence, specifically in trafficking and sexual exploitation recognition and response in the health care setting. Ms. Heisterkamp is a forensic nurse examiner and manages a team of forensic nurses who respond to provide care to individuals of all ages and backgrounds who have experienced sexual assault or abuse, intimate partner violence, child abuse or neglect, or human trafficking or sexual exploitation. She has been actively involved in the implementation of a validated screening tool to evaluate teens for exploitation and trafficking risk in the emergency department setting. She also has developed curriculum to train and educate health care providers to trauma-aware and person-centered response to human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Ms. Heisterkamp is incredibly passionate about the curating safe spaces for youth and adults experiencing human trafficking or exploitation to access resources and education that can empower their future choices for safety and wellbeing.
